The Pink Punker is the beginning of my Skeleton series. I began using my boyfriend as a model for my pieces and he graciously assisted me. After finding the right poses to model the work from, I hit the anatomy books to study all of the correct angles. After sketching him over and over again, I began to like the messiness of the work, something I usually don’t like from my own art. So I continued down the road of what I don’t normally venture towards. PINK. A color that has haunted me all my life, was finally something I wanted to see, big and bold. Lots of pink. To give the artwork a bit more of an edge, I decided to make the skeleton even more rough. Something that reminded me of old punk flyers or skateboard decks of my youth. Once he was ready, he was sent to a high quality printer, and returned back to me for more work. This was the first time I decided to use a texture medium to add depth and character. I’ve since used this process when creating digital illustrations.
